The Tennis NSW Get into Tennis information booth was a popular attraction with spectators both young and old alike. Air conditioning and lounges provided spectators with the chance to cool down, re apply sunscreen and read about the Sun Sound campaign.

“The Sun Sound jingle is an innovative way to remind people to think about the effect the sun has, especially at the tennis where you can be sitting for hours watching a match in the middle of the day”, said Tennis NSW CEO Glenn Tasker.

The Sun Sound was a big hit at the recent HEAD Junior Round Robin tournament, with the girls even stopping in the middle of a match to dance and reapply sunscreen. Tennis NSW will continue to drive the Sun Sound campaign within Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre, working with member clubs and sanctioned tournaments about spreading the Sun Sound into the tennis community.

In 2011, Sun Sound was recognised for marketing excellence at the Marketing Institute of Australia.

Councils’ enthusiasm to broadcast the Sun Sound has been welcomed by Cancer Council. “Councils are responsible for a number of outdoor spaces such as beaches, pools and sports grounds, which are ideal for playing Sun Sound. It’s encouraging to see so many Councils supporting Sun Sound as a healthy local community initiative” said Jackie McIver, Youth Project Officer.
